FR-264 WWII Russian DP-28 light machine gun (demilled). $1399.95
FR-264 WWII Russian DP-28 light machine gun (demilled).
WWII Russian DP-28 light machine gun (demilled). The DP-28 was originally introduced by the Russians in 1928 and was one of the cheapest and easiest Russian machine guns to produce. Early models had less than 80 parts and was so easy that it could be produced by unskilled laborers. Average firing was 500 rounds per minute which meant a reduced danger of over heating the barrels. The major drawbacks on this gun were the bi-pod which broke very easily in combat and the drum magazine which took a very long time to reload with ammunition. This gun is in excellent condition. The overall gun is in beautiful shape with a crudly stamped 1944 date and other inspector markings nearby. The charge handle pulls back and will “dry fire” when the trigger and safety button are depressed. However only the handle moves all internal parts are permanently welded in place and demilled according to current BATF standards. The barrel is also removable when the charge handle is pulled back and the barrel is twisted to the right. This MG also has the original bi-pod which folds down and clips in the carry position and comes with an original sling and magazine. This is an incredible looking display gun and will make any demilled gun collector proud to have in his collection!

The bi-pod matches the barrel jacket being “dfb” marked and 1941 dated. Shows minor to moderate service and wear. Has Bakelite grips, wooden butt stock and demilled receiver (original, not dummy) and original bolt. FR-445. WWII German FLAK 41 Round with Impact Fuse. $1249.95
FR-445. WWII German FLAK 41 Round with Impact Fuse.
Extremely rare German Ordnance Round. These long rounds (48”) were unique to the Flak 41 gun. Only 556 of these guns were produced. Although a vast improvement over the other 88mm Flak Guns (they has a maximum ceiling of 48,000 feet and could fire 20 to 25 rounds per minute!) they were complex, and the shells often jammed upon extraction. By February 1944 only 279 of these guns remained in service. Although an AA gun these could also be used in the anti tank role. Condition is good – VG. The casing is split at the lip (extraction problem). Both casing and high explosive round are 1944 dated and nicely marked. It has an impact (anti tank) dummy (reproduction) fuse. Rare.

Overall it is in VG condition although there must have been a head space issue as the base cracked when fired. There is a neck crack and a couple of small dings in the brass casing. FR-687 Circa 1900 US 8 Inch Coastal Defense Gun Primer System $199.95
FR-687 Circa 1900 US 8 Inch Coastal Defense Gun Primer System
These large guns did not fire a conventional cartridge. Instead the projectile, powder charge and primer were loaded as separate components. This gizmo was the primer system. It is a beautifully machined device that unscrews so that a 12 gauge shotgun blank could be loaded inside. The device was then screwed into the guns breech. The gunner would pull a lanyard attached to the rear activating the firing pin which would fire the blank causing the powder charge to ignite. Sounds complicated and time consuming but a trained crew could actually fire several rounds per minute. Having numerous preloaded primer systems standing by helped. These are in excellent condition and except for a SE# and the number "8" (indicating use in an 8" battery) they are unmarked. Each is approximately 6.5" long and weighs nearly 7 pounds. Certainly an unusual ordnance item that was soon replaced by a more conventional primer. CAUTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIRE THESE. IF YOU HOLD IT WHILE FIRING A BLANK YOU WILL LOSE YOUR HAND! IF YOU FIRE IT WITH A REGULAR SHELL IT WILL BLOW UP SERIOUSLY INJURING YOU. MUST BE 21 YEARS OR OLDER TO PURCHASE.

FR-705 U.S. Civil War M1861 Springfield Rifled Musket (Norfolk Contract) $1099.95
FR-705 U.S. Civil War M1861 Springfield Rifled Musket (Norfolk Contract)
U.S. Civil War M1861 Springfield Rifled Musket (Norfolk Contract) This is an M1861 Springfield rifled musket produced by Welch, Brown & Company, in Norfolk, Ct. This company delivered 18,000 of these rifles between 1862 and 1863 of which approximately 4,000 were rejected by the government for being an inferior grade. The 1861 Springfield was developed to be the new standard rifle of the U.S. Army. Over 700,000 Model 1861 rifles were produced, with the Springfield Armory increasing its production during the war by contracting out to twenty other firms in the U.S. This particular rifle has been restored due to the stock being cut between the 2nd and 3rd bands. The stock was “duffel” cut under the third band and a new section of stock was added. The color and look between the two sections of the stocks are a perfect match. The ramrod, middle band and rear sight are reproductions the rest of the parts are all original. The barrel is marked with the “V”, “P” and “Eagle Head”, but is undated. The Lock is marked “U.S. Norfolk” and 1863. The stock does still remain a partial inspector cartouche, mainly just the circle around the initials are remaining. Overall an excellent example of a restored M1861 contract rifle.

FR-915 1816 Conversion Springfield made by U.S. Johnson $1799.95
FR-915 1816 Conversion Springfield made by U.S. Johnson
This is probably the cleanest 1816 we have ever seen. This smoothbore musket was made by Johnson a contract manufacturer for Springfield Arsenal. The overall condition of this conversion is very good to excellent with the only flaw being some light to moderate pitting around the nipple on the barrel and on the hammer. The barrel is proof marked and is dated 1831 and the lock is dated 1830. The wood and rest of the metal is excellent with a light grey patina with little to no pitting. The three bands are all marked B11 which is common as a rack number. The stock retains two cartouches on opposite the lock and the other above the buttplate.

FR-924 U.S. Civil War C.S. Richmond Rifle. $4995.95
FR-924 U.S. Civil War C.S. Richmond Rifle.
U.S. Civil War C.S. Richmond rifle. These rifles were first produced in 1861 and were made from captured equipment from the U.S. Arsenal at Harpers Ferry. After Confederate forces captured the stores of parts and manufacturing equipment they moved the manufacturing to Richmond and started producing their own rifles. Due to using this equipment they produced a rifle patterned after the U.S. 1855 Springfield with the exclusion of the tape primer to save on manufacturing time. This created a unique lock plate which still retained the same shape as the 1855 lock including a high “hump” where the tape primer used to be. In the manufacturing of the Richmond rifles the Confederates employed many captured parts from the Harpers Ferry Arsenal as late as 1864. This particular rifle is a type II variation which reduced the size of the “hump” on the lock plate. The rifle stock had been cut down post Civil War, which was common to do with surplus military rifles at the time. The original section of stock is from the third band back. It was then restored to its original appearance by replacing the front section of the stock from under the third band forward. The front and rear bands are original 1855 Springfield rifle bands, the middle band, brass nose cap and rear sight leafs are all aged reproductions to complete the rifle. The stock was cut under the third band so that it is virtually indistinguishable from an uncut stock. The metal parts have an even light brown patina. The lock plate has clear and crisp markings, including "C.S. Richmond" and a 1863 date. The stock still retains a cartouche either “GA” or “SA” opposite the lock plate, it has one chip missing from behind the lock plate in between the tang of the barrel, the chip is very old and does not detract from the overall appearance, and one very fine crack from the front of the trigger guard for about 2.5". Overall being restored this rifle has an excellent appearance and is almost impossible to tell that it has been cut down without closer inspection. This is about as close to a fully original Richmond as you can get without paying $9,000 to $12,000. We are offering ours at a reduced price due to being cut down and then professionally restored.

FR-926 U.S. Indian Wars 1873 "Trapdoor" Carbine $1499.95
FR-926 U.S. Indian Wars 1873
This carbine is serial #18658 and is in fair to good condition. The stock has typical wear with dings, and some scratching. The stock has two flaws, first two cracks by the front of the lock plate that run approx. 1 1/2". They are only surface cracks and are not a weak point in the stock. The second is on the butt of the stock where it looks as though someone tried to carve the end of the stock to fit a smaller butt plate. It is not terrible but is noticeable, photos. Metal has an overall even brown/blue patina. With the exception of the trapdoor which has at one point been polished slightly, also has some minor pitting. The bore has very minor pitting but is overall bright. The hammer has also been replaced with a second model trapdoor rifle hammer. Overall this is a good display gun, Very good to mint trapdoor carbines typically sell for $2500 to $3000 so this gun is priced appropriately due to its flaws. A good display gun! We do not recommend shooting this gun and it should be checked out by a gunsmith before even considering doing so. This carbine is sold as an antique only!

FR-936 WWI British Army Sappers Modified No. 1 MkIII Enfield rifle $349.95
FR-936 WWI British Army Sappers Modified No. 1 MkIII Enfield rifle
There was a little known series of battles fought along the Western Front in WWI underneath the trenches and “nomans” land. It was here that British Sappers and German Pioneers (many of whom were miners in their civilian lives) dug “Saps” under the enemies trench line. These were then filled with explosives and detonated during large attacks, collapsing large sections of the trench line and killing hundreds of enemy soldiers. Both sides knew that the other side was digging and took steps to stop them. Soldiers would listen for digging sounds to locate the enemy and would dig counter saps, their goal to get inside their tunnel, kill them and destroy their sap. This resulted in small, intense engagements in restricted quarters. Fighting was often hand to hand with shovels, picks, trench knives and cut down rifles such as this. This is an original British rifle produced by BSA during the war. It is dated 1918. Our gunsmith has modified it so that it closely resembles those cut down and used by British and Commonwealth sappers such as the one in the Hill 62 museum in Flanders Belgium. Very well marked. Condition is very good. It has been internally demilled to BATF specs so that it cannot be made to fire and is no longer considered a firearm under Federal and California law. This is a museum grade deactivation so the bolt still functions, you can dry fire it, remove the clip etc. It looks and feels just like a live rifle. For more information on this underground war see “Beneath Flanders Fields- The Tunnelers War” By Peter Barton. Also being produced in Australia is a movie about Australian miners who were active in the Ypres sector. See more information on the movie at this link www.beneathhill60.com.au/index.htm

FR-939 U.S. M1808 Contract flintlock musket made by Asher and Pliny Bartlett $2899.95
FR-939 U.S. M1808 Contract flintlock musket made by Asher and Pliny Bartlett
This is an excellent example of a U.S. M1808 Contract flintlock musket made by Asher and Pliny Bartlett of Springfield, Massachusetts. Dated 1813 and still remaining in original flintlock configuration these are getting difficult to find in any kind of condition. Originally contracted for 2,500 it is believed 1,700 were delivered. This was part of an 85,200 contract from this and other contractors that was made due to the threat of a European invasion, of those guns only half were ever delivered. The lock is in good condition with only minor pitting and wear. The lock is marked 1813 “U.S.” and Bartlett. The eagle is partially obscured by a light stamping or worn down by polishing. The barrel also retains an 1813 and corresponding proof marks. The stock is also marked next to the butt plate S&D which is unknown, possibly the individuals initials who used the gun originally. On the opposite side of the lock the inspector’s cartouche circle is just barely visible but you are unable to read any initials. The stock is in excellent condition with only minor dings and scratches. There are two chips out of the ramrod channel between the 1st and 2nd bands but it does not detract from the overall appearance. The metal surfaces have an even brown/grey patina. The lock functions beautifully. This musket also comes with an original bayonet which is marked “IN. US” and has an inspectors mark as well as a “No. 625” inscribed on the mouth of the bayonet. This is an excellent U.S. Military flintlock that are difficult to find in original configuration.

FR-982 U.S. Civil War era Belgian import rifled musket .69 caliber $799.95
FR-982 U.S. Civil War era Belgian import rifled musket .69 caliber
This is an example of the style of weapons that both the Federal and Confederate armies were importing early on in the war. As the war broke out representatives from both the Federal and Confederate Governments flooded Europe looking for any weapons to import to the newly expanding armies. This Belgian example is the typical style that they found which closely resembles the U.S. M1842 Springfield musket. This style rifle was quickly becoming obsolete with the newer style of smaller caliber muzzle loaders and especially the much favored breechloaders. This .69 caliber rifle is in overall good to very good condition with only a few minor flaws. One is that it is lacking a butt plate but still displays nicely and the other is that there is a small Ľ” hole on the opposite side of the lock. The wrist of the stock also has some minor nicks and hairline cracks. Other than those the rifle is in very good condition and is a very unique design. The bottom of the stock has a flat enclosed ramrod channel, a very unique design folding rear long range site. The metal is an even brown patina with a brass sideplate. Overall an excellent U.S. Civil War era import rifled musket.

They have a seven shot magazine tube that loads from the rear of the stock. The markings that are located on top of the frame are SPENCER REPEATING/ RIFLE CO. BOSTON. MASS. / PAT'D MARCH 6,1860. We acquired this from a person who said his Great Grandfather carried it in the Civil War his name was John Volker of the 8th Illinois Cavalry Co D. However the serial number for this carbine is #42804, which (according to the Springfield Research Service) places the carbine to the 3rd Iowa Volunteer Cavalry Co. G, circa 1864. The 3rd Iowa fought in the following campaigns post 1863; Mine Run Campaign November 26-December 2, Rapidan Campaign May-June, 1864, Todd's Tavern May 5-6, Salem Church and Pole Cat Creek May 27, Cold Harbor June 1-12, Battle of Monocacy July 9, Fairfax Station November 26, Sulphur Springs and Centreville March 3-8, and mustered out July 17, 1865. So it is possible that Great Grandpa bought this surplus after the war or changed units? The overall condition of this carbine is good to very good, the only negative side of this is that the tip of the hammer has broken off. It looks as through it could have been done originally as there is a great amount of age to the metal. The metal has an even light brown appearance with only traces of the original finish. Bore is bright with some areas of pitting but the rifling is very strong. Stock shows normal wear and displays two cartouches behind the lanyard loop, with the initials of “DAP” and possibly “MMP.” Overall a great piece of firearms evolution and piece of Civil War cavalry history.

BK-119. WAR OF 1812 ERA U.S. NEWSPAPERS.
These are Boston’s “Columbian Centinel,” Massachusetts’s Federalist Newspaper and date from 1811. This was the period leading up to the war. Each paper is approximately 19 ľ” x 14” and is four pages long (complete). Condition is surprisingly good for a disposable item made almost 200 years ago. There will be tattering around the edges however they are basically intact and readable. The paper used has a high rag content so it is not brittle. Each has a handwritten (in ink) name of the subscriber on the front top left corner. Content covers local, national and European (mainly England related) news. Most will have shipping news (example: for Baltimore- the good sloop “Friendship,” Wilson Knapp, master, will sail with all convenient dispatch- For freight or passage apply to Adams & Wood, No.1 D Spears Wharf.”) The advertisements are great- my favorite: “Young married woman with a good breast of milk and good recommendations, wishes to go into a family to nurse a child...” These are extremely interesting and make a great gift- what was happening on your birthday 196 years ago…? SW-453 Unusual Samurai Sword, Japanese Army Officer's Quality Suke Hiro Copy $2499.95
SW-453 Unusual Samurai Sword, Japanese Army Officer's Quality Suke Hiro Copy
This unusual Samurai sword is the first of this type we have had! WW II Japanese Army officer’s Samurai sword. Very interesting example of a nice quality early war sword that was made in the style of one of Japan’s most famous sword smiths, Suke Hiro. The smith has nicely forged Suke Hiro’s signature on the tang in the Maru style. The signature extends to both sides of the tang and roughly translates; Suke Hiro, Lord of Ichi Zen 1 Day in Augues 4th year of Enpo (1676). My sword expert believes this was a substitute sword made as a copy of a fine family sword that a young officer could take it with him into battle without risking a national treasure quality sword. This is a nice Showa period (WW II era) quality sword by an above average smith. The (27” blade is bright but has some finger print frosting and light pitting. It has a nice “Gentle Doran” style temper line. The handle wrap has worn thin in spots but still has a good overall appearance. Military style scabbards and fittings are VG. This a very attractive sword. A true Suke Hiro sword would be worth upwards of $100,00. You can buy this copy for $2499.95. w

UM-091 WWII U.S. Japanese-American Translator Grouping to a 1st LT. $549.95
UM-091 WWII U.S. Japanese-American Translator Grouping to a 1st LT.
This is an excellent grouping that is named to Ted T. Kihara who was a Japanese-American translator and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the South Pacific. Lt. Kihara entered the U.S. Army as an enlisted man on 23 JUN 1941 serving in the Coast Artillery. After the start of the war he then entered the Military Intelligence Language School (MISLS) then spent 18 months overseas. He received his Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB) while overseas and participated in campaigns with the 43rd Infantry in Noumea, Roviana Island, New Georgia, New Guinea, and Luzon. He then came back to the states to attend OCS and was again stationed at the MISLS school. He later received an assignment along with Lt. Dye Ogata to be attached to a Canadian Military Forces Japanese Language School, in Vancouver, British Columbia. He served at the school in British Columbia in an area that had Japanese civilians evacuated 100 miles from the coast. He served there until the end of the war then returned to the U.S. to be transferred to Japan as a translator for U.S. occupation forces. This grouping is amazing including one “Green officers” Ike jacket with a bullion General Headquarters patch and one 43rd Infantry Division combat patch, one standard officers Ike, one four button khaki officers service jacket, one officers wool shirt, one pair of officers “pink” trousers, two khaki trousers, three khaki shirts, one officers Mackinaw overcoat, one khaki officers visor cap, one khaki overseas cap, one barracks bag, one M1944 lower pack, a B-4 clothing bag, and two footlockers. Also included is a small box with four extra GHQ patches, two embroidered khaki backed campaign bars, Lt. Kihara’s dog tags, a belt buckle, some reception invitation cards, and a ruptured duck patch. All of the uniforms are in good to very good condition, the 4 button khaki service jacket has a few moth nips on the waist and the visor cap has some staining and a few moth nips. The uniforms are approximately size 36S. The shirts are heavily starched but are in good condition. Almost all of the uniforms have named identification tags or Lt. Kihara’s name written inside. The two hats are a size 7. Also included are internet print-outs of information about Lt. Kihara, the school he attended or worked at and his initial enlistment information from the online National Archives Database. Together all of these items are a complete grouping for a U.S. Army Japanese American translator who served in the South Pacific in WWII, which is something that was not very common. This grouping is an excellent piece of Japanese-American history and the story of one American translator’s service in WWII. NOTE!!! Please keep in mind that this is a large group with two foot lockers so shipping will be figured depending upon your location. If you are interested send us an email first and we will figure out a shipping quote to your location!!! Or you are always more than welcome to pick it up if your in the area.
