Good example of a Normandy Vet bring back (came from family of a 29th Div Vet). This is a Paris maker marked cap that was originally a small size 53 (I’ve been told that the French deliberately made extra small caps to “stick it to the Boche” – who knows, but it’s a good story). Anyway: hat has resized to size 57 during the war by extending the back. This was a very well done alteration and it was restamped size 57. It shows moderate age and wear with moth tracking and holes on both sides near the lower seams. There are seven holes, 2 are pin holes, 3 are BB sized nips, the others are ¼ and ½”, damage is camouflaged by backing and it looks nicer than it sounds.
